The Gas is Greener . . . Lance Frazer Abstract
According to studies done by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Harvard School of Public Health, some 64,000 Americans die prematurely each year because of illnesses made worse by air pollutants, including emissions from power plants. With the global electrical demand predicted to increase by 565,000 megawatts annually through 2005, how can we avoid continuing to pour pollutants into the atmosphere? Clean Energy Systems (CES) may have one answer. Instead of burning carbon-containing fuel in the presence of air, which produces the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, the CES plant burns clean fuel in the presence of pure oxygen. In tests to date, researchers have found zero emissions during the CES plant operation and 100% recovery of any carbon dioxide generated during operation.
